Every now and then, I stumble upon a skin care product to which I become totally addicted. That’s really saying a lot, given the wide assortment of high quality natural organic beauty products on the market.
And though we always have our favorites, in most instances it is easy enough to make substitutions based on price or availability – and not really notice the difference.
However, this is NOT the case with my sunscreen of choice – John Masters Natural Mineral Sunscreen.
If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know that I typically try to remain as objective as I can when reviewing products … Even with a product that I love and use regularly, I strive to remain as unbiased as possible so I can help you do your due diligence.
Today, I am deviating from that norm with my John Masters Natural Mineral Sunscreen Review, as there are absolutely nothing but positive things to say. I flat out LOVE this product and I am happy to bestow all of the accolades that it deserves!
I first discovered John Masters Mineral Sunscreen about 4 years ago after having a horrible allergic reaction to a chemically laden $75 bottle of sunscreen recommended by my (then) medical esthetician. I won’t go into the nitty-gritty of what happened – suffice it to say that my face looked like it was attacked by a swarm of bees. NOT pretty.
When the swelling subsided and I could open my eyes, I started doing some serious research online in a quest to find a natural sunscreen that lived up to my standards in terms of efficacy and quality.
The first two products I tried were disappointing at best. Though the ingredients were all-natural and did not risk any allergic reactions, the products’ texture and overall feel left a lot to be desired. They did not absorb into my skin and left a matte, tacky film on my face over which it was difficult to apply makeup.
Thankfully, the third time was the charm. John Masters Mineral Sunscreen was delightfully different from its ‘competitors’. In terms of quality, this amazing product can stand up against any high end daytime moisturizer.
What Makes John Masters Natural Mineral Sunscreen So Special?
Obviously, the ingredients are of the highest quality.
First – the blend of zinc oxide and titanium dioxide (both natural minerals) provide broad spectrum UVA and UVB protection suitable for all skin types. And these natural mineral sunscreens are delivered in a way that allows them to be thoroughly absorbed into the skin – unlike similar products that leave the skin coated in a white film. Who wants to look like a lifeguard when you need to go out into the world and put your best face forward?
Second – the combination of hydrating ingredients are second to none. Shea butter and jojoba oil provide extraordinary moisturizing benefits, and green tea extract nourishes and replenishes the skin. This amazing sunscreen serves a double duty as your daytime moisturizer, leaving your complexion hydrated, but never greasy.
Lastly – John Masters Natural Mineral Sunscreen contains antioxidants and vitamins that both soothe the skin and protect it from harsh environmental exposure.
The texture of this product is unlike any other sunscreen product that I’ve tried. It is so luxurious; you would never know that you are applying an SPF 30 protection. It absorbs into the skin beautifully, leaving your face moist and dewy and the perfect palette for flawless makeup application.
Are there any drawbacks to John Masters Natural Mineral Sunscreen?
In a nutshell – a resounding ‘No’!
I guess some might say that it’s a bit pricey at $32 for a 2 ounce bottle ….
However – once you try it, you will no doubt realize that this product is worth every last penny.
This is one of my all-time favorite skin care products – and I will have it in my beauty bag forever.
I highly recommend that you try this amazing sunscreen – and be prepared to fall in love with it!
Helpful Tips: –
- Shake the tube really well …. and when you think you’ve shaken it enough – shake it some more …. especially before the first application. The shea butter and jojoba oil will separate after it’s been sitting on the shelf. Once all of the ingredients have been blended, it applies beautifully.
- A little goes a long way – apply thin layers as needed.
